National Senior Citizens Day: August 21, 2021

Celebrated annually on August 21st

In 1988, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed this holiday to raise awareness about issues that affect senior citizens and their quality of life.

Today, seniors are still active in their communities and continue to have a strong presence in the workforce.

By 2034, approximately 78 million people aged 65 and older will reside

in America. This figure will surpass the the population under the age of 18 for the first time in the nation’s history.

I Am So Thankful

By participant Mrs. Pearl Wilson

I am so thankful

just to be alive.

I am so thankful

just to see the cars pass.

Oh Lord, we must begin to

tell our children hate is not the answer

to our problems.

We must learn to love one another,

no matter what color our skin may be.

It is not the color of the skin God wants,

He only wants our souls.

I am so thankful Lord,

because I can love everybody regardless

of the color of their skin.

So, Mothers and Fathers get busy,

carry out God’s will so our children’s

children can have a better understanding towards their sisters and brothers.
