During Active Aging Week 2016 (Sept. 25 – Oct 1), Henrico County, Anthem Healthkeepers/CareMore, Family Lifeline and Senior Connections partnered to bring the generations together to demonstrate that healthy aging starts in childhood and lasts a lifetime.  Play it Forward…Aging Together was a unique opportunity to bring young people and older adults together for an inter-generational day of games, exercise, prizes, arts/crafts, fun and laughter. Held on Thursday, September 29 at Deep Run Recreational Center, the day featured  bowling, football, parachute, bubble ball, corn hole, hula hoop, selfie station, arts-and-crafts hosted by The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, vendors, refreshments, prizes, and more! Plus a special visit from CareMore’s CareBear!
Led by the International Council on Active Aging, Active Aging Week is an annual health promotion event held during the last week of September. This week celebrates older adults in our communities and encourages participation in activities, workshops and forums that promote proactive approaches to healthy aging. This is our regional opportunity to strengthen positives images of healthy aging and active lifestyles in our communities that reinforce connections to local resources.
