Family Lifeline staff work very hard to deliver intensive, in-home education, wellness and support services that bring independence to some of Central Virginia’s most vulnerable children, parents and seniors. They do this by taking our programs into the community to teach, nurture, and support individuals and families in ways that have lasting impact on their lives:

  • teaching young mothers how to care for their newborns
  • educating parents so they can help their children succeed in school
  • supporting isolated adults and seniors so they may age in place in their own homes
  • relieving the primary caregiver for an older adult with vital respite time for self, work or family

The work is very difficult and we frequently hold staff gatherings to promote and encourage wellness and mindfulness in our hard working staff. For our June session, Family Lifeline invited Caring Canines to visit us in our offices on Broad Street. Their skilled volunteers and therapy dogs provided comfort and affection to staff, helped to reduce stress, and promoted overall wellness.
