This morning, all of us at Family Lifeline are still completely overwhelmed by the generosity of the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) of United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg. Always a wonderful partner to Family Lifeline, the WLI collected almost 1,000 boxes of holiday goodies for young children in our three early childhood programs: CHIP, Healthy Families, and Parents as Teachers.
With the help of a team of community volunteers (and their big vehicles!), we arrived at United Way yesterday to pick up the boxes. Up and down the stairs and elevator we went – until, thanks to the many hands of our team and the WLI volunteers, we loaded all the gifts!

This was the smallest car of our transportation brigade – we filled this one plus 5 SUVs to take boxes to our office locations!

The boxes include fun and educational items such as books, blocks, puzzles, coloring pads, markers and crayons; as well as practical necessities like socks, gloves, hats and diapers. Over the course of the next couple of weeks, Family Lifeline’s Parent Educators will deliver these boxes to families currently enrolled in our programs. A huge thank you to United Way’s WLI for putting big smiles on the faces of hundreds of kids this year!

About half of the gifts – stacked and sorted and ready to be picked up for home delivery!
